In the Wicklow Mountains, Ireland, I photographed deer hunter John in his butchering shed to show the sometimes hidden side of the hunt, where wild, organic venison becomes part of the local food supply. Having hunted for over 50 years, a profession that is part of his heritage, John's practice raises a wider conversation about sustainability, responsibility and the role of hunting in modern food systems.
